Grade One
Olympic Torch
Our very own science teacher, Mr. Scott, just recently ran with the torch and then was nice enough to share part of his experience with our students.

A Visit from the Pumpkin Elf
Our class was very fortunate this year and experienced some Pumpkin Elf mischief. He left the grade ones an orange mess, a few notes and a lot of pumpkins. Today with the help of some wonderful parents, students were able to each carve their own pumpkin.

Great Pumpkin Race
Today, October 28th, we had the annual Great Pumpkin Race. Students had to estimate how long they thought it would take them to run a certain distance shown on a map around Glenwood. The girl and boy in each grade who had the closest actual time to their estimated time each won a pumpkin to take home and carve. Pumpkins can then be brought back to the school for judging on Friday, October 30th. If students did not win a pumpkin but would like to bring a pumpkin in for judging they may bring their own pumpkin in for judging. Today Elijah and Elisha were our Great Pumpkin Race winners for Grade One.
Getting ready for the Great Race!
New Playground Opening
Today all of the students were finally able to play on the new playground. Special thanks to Parent Council for working so hard to get our new playground and to Mrs. Johnson for writing the application for the grant to pay for the playground!
Free Friday in Physical Education
Every Friday in Physical Education the grade ones and twos are given the opportunity to explore in their own way the skills they learned throughout the week. This week we worked on Cup Staking. As you can see most students chose to use the cups in different ways come Friday.
